COBOL
COBOL stands for Common Business Oriented Language was developed under the auspices of the US Department of Defense in the early sixties. It was designed to be a business problem oriented, machine independent language. COBOL is still used very widely to access the core of the business processes and data. There are some tools that allow you to convert COBOL to EJBs and others that allow to make a connection from Java to COBOL.
